Aparajita

I have searched the archives for the A4D / ExtJS libraries and am coming up empty? Does anybody have a link they can share with me where I can find said libraries.

There are no A4D/Ext libraries as such, there is a JSON library on the wiki.

I need to get my head around the whole JSON model as well, certainly a new way of coding (compared to the old "state" method I am used to). I have done my fair share of AJAX work (in conjunction with 4D / A4D) but I know that JSON is a new beast as well.

Also, there was talk last year about some A4D/ExtJS demos, has anything been constructed yet?

Not yet, I just finished the Ext project and am catching my breath.

Time for a vacation ;-)

I have a new project starting next week and I am going to do A4D/ ExtJS from the beginning (not going to mess around with the "old way")

WARNING! There are some issues with Ext and FireFox 2.x. Specifically, the text cursor does not appear in some text fields. This will be fixed in FireFox 3, but that is a few months off.

Also, be aware that Ext is a monster. Learning Ext is the equivalent of programming with Java+Swing. It is a complete GUI toolkit, and as such it takes a long time to master. It is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Really, I am glad (and sad) to hear that actually. I have done quite a bit of reviewing of code etc and it seemed pretty extensive and exhaustive and I was looking at ways in which I could integrate it into this upcoming project. I had a plan of how I was going to do it with native 4D/A4D/AJAX but I then got back onto the ExtJS kick last month so I have really been trying to get a much better wrap on how things work (thus the reason for looking for any additional demos, libraries, etc)

So, if you had to do it all over again, would you still recommend going with ExtJS?

I am not looking to "cut corners" but more maximize my time (obviously) yet deliver a modern / polished application.
