Obviously I can't speak for Aparajita, but my library of choice is
Yahoo's YUI. Very extensive and powerful and relatively easy to
implement...

So, if you had to do it all over again, would you still recommend
going with ExtJS?
I am not looking to "cut corners" but more maximize my time
(obviously) yet deliver a modern / polished application.
