I have this problem with clips over 2Gb which come off the Sony HandyCam HDD.
The software insists on breaking the clips into 2Gb chunks and in the process
loses 9 or 10 frames. I don't actually get reported errors, but there are
obviously frames missing and the audio will get out of sync. I stitch my clips
back together before importing with PP3, using VideoReDo which has never failed
to make a seamless repair.

Regards,

Alan.

............................Another option is an MPEG repair program.
Depending on
the type of damage, some can do an OK job. The worst
of them just delete bad frames and 'stitch' the video
together, but that throws the video out of synch with
  the audio.
