Hi Gregg.

I don't use Sony software per se. I have a Sony DSR-TRV70E which was bought new
last January. It comes with the usual bundled software including direct DVD
burning facility, which I find is as useful as a chocolate teapot.:-)

I simply use the USBII interface and download direct to a folder on the PC, so
I don't use Sony proprietary software, but of course there is Sony software
inside the HandyCam to drive the interface between the HDD and the USBII
stream, so it's this that breaks up clips into 2Gb chunks and loses frames
along the way. I use either XP SPII or Vista OS, so there is no file size
restriction there. It's a camera restriction, and I've written to Sony about it
but as you'd expect, they have totally ignored me. Not even an acknowledgement
of my letter. My local supplier is also as useless as Sony, and those idiots
even believed Sony when they were told that a large capacity battery for my
HandyCam is no longer available! I checked out the Sony Leisure site and found
an upgraded battery that fits fine and charges OK. Grrrrrrr..........

Regards,

Alan.

You're using software from Sony? There's been no
excuse for breaking files at 2Gb for quite some time.......................
