Rieni, I read a lot of comments about not to use 80 minutes tapes. It will wear down the motor faster or something like that. Maybe that's something you should also try to avoid.

Hi Richard, Yes it came with a cleaning tape which I tried a few time, without improvement. I am using Canon 80 minutes cassettes, not the Canon pro cassettes. But that shouldn't make that much of a difference. Of course the dropouts appear as the typical blocky digital breakup, and audio disappearing for a few seconds, and the annoying time-code break so capturing to hard drive is hell as well. I will try using other tapes as well. If that doesn't help, maybe I should just return it to the supplier and apply for warrantee repair or replacement. I must add that this camcorder doesn't give a solid impression to me at all. To me it feels like a cheap plastic toy. But let's be honest, I choose this one for its low price. My Sony PD150 broke down and I needed a replacement as soon as possible. Maybe I should invest in a >$5000 Sony or Panasonic.
