Lee,
1. I am not the moderator but this is probably the wrong forum to get
advice on cameras.
2. It is also difficult to give advice as the camera you chose depends
entirely on the type of
       videos you make.

As I am living in Africa and Rieni (our moderator) has not objected to
your mail I will stick my
neck out and give you a few tips to consider when coming to this dark
continent. Wherever you
come from, it will be very different.
What will you do when your hard drive is full? Will you take a laptop
along? I would get a camera
which records on cards.
25 times zoom is nice, just remember you need a tripod to steady the
shots. Don't know how heavy
or light you can/must travel. Serengeti means wildlife. You will
probably go on game viewing trips.
Take a pillow to support the camera in the car.
Get an extra big battery. Check how the power plugs look like in
Tanzania and get an adapter if
necessary.
Take a big plastic bag to protect your camera from dust or rain.
Insure your camera - you may come home without it. Imagine it is stolen
with the hard drive full of your
shots. If you use cards you keep them at a different place once you
recorded on them - at least you
will bring your shots home.

Bring a hat and suntan lotion and don't forget we have malaria and
plenty of aids here.
I had malaria 4years ago, 6 days in a coma, just made it - life has a
different meaning now.

Welcome to Africa and enjoy it
Uwe
