Rieni,
The question which camera to buy is the most asked one but the most
difficult one to
answer.
Another hundred people will recommend another hundred cameras - all with
valid reasons
which suit THEM.
I agree with all you wrote, a very good camera!!
I don't think though that it is the right camera for what Lee wants to do.
He wants to go to the Serengeti and as I wrote, that means wildlife. I
have been recording wildlife
in Africa for the past 40 plus years and in all modesty can say that I
have a bit experience.
You can put people where you want them to be and tell them what you want
them to do, not so with
animals. You as camera man have to react to what they are doing and that
means you have to be
very quick sometimes. You are not in a zoo.
Animals are often far away and you will therefore need long focal length
lenses and they most
definitely do not come cheap for DSLRs and are heavy to schlepp around.
I don't know whether Lee comes here with the main purpose of making a
movie or as a tourist
who wants to make a travelogue type video.
I had a Beaulieu movie camera once (actually long ago) with
interchangeable lenses.
Great for general work. I lost more wildlife shots by changing lenses
than what I scored by having them.
I had the advantage of being able to travel around in a Landrover with
cameras, tripods, dolly,
crane etc. A tourist has very strict weight limitations. I have three
Sony cameras and found them to be
very robust, never had a problem.
Lee also has to take everything he needs, in Africa you can not simply
go to the next town and try to
get what you forgot.
Anyway, these are my thoughts, Lee is the one who has to decide.
Greetings from the dark continent
Uwe
