I too concur with Uwe, don't use a hard drive camera, once dropped/stolen/damaged, its gone. Use a separate hard drive and/or laptop. Sony do have a habit of doing strange things with its file format, like it will only work with Vegas and the original lead etc. (Might be a thing of the past now, hopefully.) If saving on a hard drive (laptop and or external), always date the folders and copy the whole AVCHD folder from the camera across. I have a Panny camcorder with 25X zoom, the OIS is actually quite good (stabilizer), so don't fret if you think a tripod will get you arrested/shot at entirely. Its last years model and can be gotten quite cheap now. (Can't remember the model.)
