With the CC they have changed the way one acquires the software and the 
licensing. Rather than buy a boxed version the software is downloaded. It is 
still loaded on the local computer. The other change is that instead of a 
perpetual license it is now a subscription model that is paid month to month. 
My issue with this is not downloading the software but that even after 
subscribing for several years once one stops paying the monthly subscription 
you have nothing and no means of accessing your past work.
