I see. This is interesting. Have you ever talked to companies other than
Oreilly about sponsoring ads?
Suppose we run a series of 6 ads over 6 months for a total budget of $120,00
USD.In our add, it would be something very simply like
"perl - used every day at AT&T"
with a little link to some brochureware site.
Then, at the bottom we could have 12 sponsor logos
(5 major sponsors @ 15,000 for 6 months) + ( 3 sponsors at 10,000 for 6
months) + (4 sponsors for 7500 each) = 120K plus 15K for O'Reilly handling
(obviously this would not cover all of OP'Reillys cost though so O'Reily
would be lucky number 13 sponsor)
But I would not advertise in techie magazines actually....
