It is similar to my GigE-SS and CAT6-SS in most parameters. Insertion Loss, NEXT etc. But there is a major difference in Return Loss. Return Loss measures how much signal bounces back from the far end. On 100 Mbps Ethernet circuits it doesn’t matter because each pair is simplex. But with GigE circuits each pair is duplex and any reflected energy can combine with the desired signal coming from the far end and cause errors. So as Chuck said, I’d consider the source. Consider the source. They have an ethernet problem. Even with no surge suppressor they have frame check and CRC errors. Most semiconductor based surge suppressors aggrivate that problem. Gas discharge tube products don’t. While I will agree that they are a bit slower, to say they do not protect the product is disingenuous at best and totally false at worst. But the users will be the true test.
