Yeah, if Subarus had a bit more ground clearance and a granny gear, they would be great in the mountains.

I too have done 80 on snow and ice, in a Jeep Liberty 4WD w/ a slight
lift and studded tires.

The scubarus behind me got stuck in the drifts - not enough ground clearance.

The pickup trucks skidded off the road when the rear end slipped - no
weight in the back.

Nothing like it.

My boss is on a road trip from home to Houston to LA. He left Houston and
wanted to go through Amarillo. He said he was surprised to see all of the
vehicles in the ditches. Then he figured out why. He was doing 80MPH and you Texans were flying past him. See, in Illinois, you probably won't get pulled over by the state police for doing 10 over, so that's what we all do. Unless you're swerving or something stupid. I usually do the speed limit, sometimes
5 or 10 over if there isn't a lot of traffic. And troopers just zoom past
doing like 90. How nice that the law doesn't have to obey the law.

So as I'm heading to the office today (normally 20 minute drive which took
40), I get on the highway and people are doing like 35-40. By this time it's
mostly raining and the slushy stuff is pretty much gone. People, if you
can't drive in shitty Chicago weather, then stay off the road or at the very least move the hell over. To piss me off further, what comes on the radio? I
can't drive 55. You gotta be kidding me. I see lots of Missouri plates on
I-55. You guys like to go way, way over the speed limit when the weather is
decent and then drive like old folks if it's even a little cloudy. So I
think you should stay in MO cuz your driving really pisses me off. Probably
you downstater's too, stay down there. I saw one car in the ditch, flipped
over I might add, and the plate was Tennessee. So you guys too.

Sorry, I had a bad day.
