We followed the Magnemount design and took a typical 5'x5' non-pen and drilled holes in it and put a lot of magnets on it. The magnets had pretty long bolts on them so we used that to adjust each magnet so it would still sit flat on a curved surface.
It's been holding a 2ft dish just fine for a couple years now.
