I may have several options as we roll forward.  If the only thing we ever 
attached to was flat this would be much easier.
The larger I go with an array, the more I need to have some kind of 
accommodation for differing distances from the tank to the mount.
I have one design that actually couples the magnet to the mount with a stiff 
spring.  That allows all the magnets in an array to find their optimal 
orientation to the thing they are attracted to.  

But all those more sophisticated options really increase the price.  So 
searching for the optimum value for the customer.

  Have you ever looked at Magnemount?  They stack them together and make it as 
a plate to increase surface mount.
