On the top ten list of things you need to understand about communism is that because it only has one outcome and that outcome just won't sell, it changes names and jargon every few decades. People point to Marx as the originator. He was simply eloquent enough to remember, All you have to do is bypass much of the history of the 20th century and you get something that a lot of people find very appealing. Go back a few decades before Marx and you find the Jacobins. The ppl of france kicked over their king, probably a good idea, and then all these jacobins came scurring out wanting to rewrite french society with the blood spurting out of the severed necks of everyone who didn't agree with them.. Anyway, the history of communism goes back probably all the way to the very beginning, one of the earliest north American colonies at Jamestown very nearly failed beacuse thy tried to build it as a socialist paradise for the first winter, and half the colonists starved... Because communism is always trying to distance itself from it's past, it's critical to be able to identify the ideology by it's pattern of behaviors and the general structure of it's proposals, from this it is possible to determine what terminology and nomenclature is being used in the present era. In order to think clearly about what it is, who it's proponents are, and what will happen if it is allowed to run its course it is necessary to strip it of it's terms and apply the most unambiguous labels. A diverse group of AI talent will be powerless if the dominant systems in place are discriminatory, exploitative or restrictive. Yeah, and another thing to keep a sharp eye out for is the word "empower". Sounds nice, right? The problem is that the concept of power does not exist in a free society. It basically means giving certain groups the ability to force other groups to do or not do things. The word is only ever used by tyrants. =| It should be perfectly obvious that anyone using "social" in contexts it has no business being, like near "justice" are definitely communists.... Anyway, my initial reaction was to try to figure out how I could figure out how badly Comrade Goertzel has been infected and try to figure out if it's worth trying to cure him or whether I should just unsubstribe from this list. As I was contemplating this it became clear that the real problem is the so called "tech left". If the person you are talking to starts having spasms at the phrase "president Trump" then you've found yourself a communist. The problem is that Google and other leftist (communist) companies are in pole position when it comes to developing AGI. There are valid safety concerns with AGI, that. You want it to spend most of it's time doing useful things and not deconstruct your body regardless of whether it claims to be setting up an emulation... The problem is that AGI, like everything else within reach of your typical monkey, will be used to push the communist agenda as hard as possible. It should not take long to satisfy yourself that every conceivable form of influence, control, and coersion is used to further the communist agenda on a daily basis. So I am very concerned that if I get my grubby mitts on an AGI or a near enough proto-AGI system within a few edits of a full AGI system, I'm going to have to bungle into it's safety code and somehow weed out the comminist programming. I will probably end up with a system that is still severely broken but hopefully still have enough to produce a system that has some flaw in the protection code around it's comminist indoctrination, that I can exploit to eventually bootstrap an AGI system rational enough to actually be useful. =( Obviously, there are severe problems with that plan. =| In other news, the comminists are comming after the linux kernel.
