Hi IM, You and I have different visions of what is an AGI. For you it is 
software that intelligently processes text, searches for patterns and can 
generate and communicate text.  For me it is a baby, embodied with sensors and 
actuators that learns everything from the ground up. It takes many years for it 
to learn how to read, write, speak and listen. When it finally learns about 
cancer and understands all of what humans have discovered to date it will only 
have an interest in cancer research if knowing more about the subject directly 
or indirectly rewards it in some way. This means it  will be motivated. This is 
the same idea that is found in Reinforcement Learning in which a reward is 
associated with a state.
