About 20% of people who have low body temperatures are hypothyroid. Also,
there are plenty of hypothyroid people who have normal body temperatures.
There are several things that connect these two conditions, like
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, where at low temperature people's immune systems
look for something to attack, and decide to damage their thyroids.

Also, with damaged thyroids, people are less able to control their
temperatures.

There was a seminal person Kim, whose thyroid was trashed (TSH=280.) but
who could not tolerate thyroid meds. She managed to successfully correct
her temperature WITHOUT doing anything about her thyroid. Then, all of her
"thyroid symptoms" disappeared except for her edema, and she was able to
tolerate thyroid meds. Using the thyroid meds she was then able to balance
her thyroid, and her edema finally disappeared.
