I find it extremely difficult to imagine even if maximizing engineering
capabilities to the limits of physics and even bending the laws of physics
where we would get anything but an imperfect copy or a reflection. If the
mind is a self-organizing system that sustains and compensates for small
errors in the transfer physics it's still a "lagging" copy. A perfect
reflection instantly diverges once it's uncoupled. But - you are instantly
diverging each time quanta. Your consciousness is tightly coupled to the
mind's electrochemistry... one time quanta ago you were a copy. Your future
is copies of you now. Are they you? Perhaps we are not who we think we are
and copies are sort of multi-bifurcations of ourselves across time into
space projections...

We don't know yet if consciousness can be copied, it may be unique.

Anyway, I hadn't really thought about uploading much but your paper is
really interesting from the algorithmic information theory perspective
thanks for posting it. Uploads, being imperfect reflections or not have huge
AGI potential especially if going through mods.

In the end questions on personal identity are going to be answered by
algorithmic probability not by opinions.

You can see how in section 3.4 of this draft paper:
http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1404/1404.1718.pdf

I applied it to an old teleportation thought experiment. Off course it can
also be applied to mind uploading.
