Ethics is how you feel about something. If I made an exact copy of you (not a twin, but a copy with the same memories like http://existentialcomics.com/comic/1 ), then killed the original, it would be as if nothing had happened. But yeah, it would make me feel squeamish too. I only mention this thought experiment to point out that there is nothing logical about ethics. > it would still be identity theft. I never claimed otherwise. But here is the problem. We are getting better at identity theft. We have better AI and better ways to collect data about you. The issue doesn't go away when the copy is so good that nobody can tell the difference. There are two copies of you competing for your possessions, and one of them has to die. -- -- Matt Mahoney, [email protected] ------------------------------------------- AGI Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/21088071-f452e424 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21088071&id_secret=21088071-58d57657 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
