AGI is the ultimate understanding of consciousness in a scientific way.. by
building it.

Many people pretend to have understandings of the brain/mind/consciousness
and it can be a bit difficult to wade through all the non-sense. But if
you can create a system that functions the same way brains do then you have
strong evidence in favor of the claim that you know what you are talking
about.

It is certainly the case that you have a brain and introspection is taking
place in that brain, and so introspection can provide you with valid data
as to things that happen in brains. Which can be useful for gaining
understandings of the sorts of things an AGI must be able to reproduce, but
much of the functioning of the brain is subconscious, and as such is (by
definition) in accessible to the conscious mind and thus this stands as a
rather important limitation of introspection.

Modafinil is good stuff.
