Good onya Andy! Well said!
I've been a radiographer even longer than that and I hope to be a
radiographer for a lot more years yet.

Forgive me if I'm missing the point, but if we're attempting to raise our
professional profile, surely we must use a word that the public
understand.
I've been a radiographer for 20 years and it's only relatively recently
I've
become aware that more and more people do know what a
radiographer is and
does. It occurred to me only the other week how maybe we are finally
turning
the corner, and now I find that the whole subject has reared it's head
again. I don't know what's fuelling the desire to change our name, but I
reckon it would put us back 20 years if we did.
And yes it is exasperating to see the same subjects discussed - I expect
role extension/radiographer reporting will come up again soon. Is
anybody
actually doing anything? Was it Quentin last year who said something
along
the lines of if you think you're standing still you're actually moving
backwards? Unfortunately, I think its pretty clear that we are cosy in our
rut.

I've always hated the word Technologist and found one of the keynote
speakers at the
Brisbane ANC in 2001 (no, not the Lord Mayor who thought we were
Radiologists) quite
offensive when the speaker referred to us (or rather his Departmental
staff)
throughout
as "techs".
And if we change the name, what do we do with the title "Australian
Institute of
Radiography"?
Seeing that tomorrow is (again) Radiographers Day - 27th March -
haven't we
been
having this discussion over a consderable period?.
