hi klaus
Personally I feel there are many different ways to explore 'things'. In regards to gaming I think there are a lot of parallels between the world of the gamer and the world of the artists. e.g. social autism, myth of progressiveness, self delusion.
fair play !
There are a few people exploring the crossover between 'gaming' and 'art' in an interesting way.ta for that - he looks very interesting
One example is Bob Ostertag.
my dismissive tone wasn't necessarily aimed at the role/import of gaming per se because there are obviously many angles to approach the phenomena and, as ever, very few foregone conclusions as to their impact and effects (for instance, i used to play monopoly for hours but haven't an ounce of capitalistic enterprise in my body now)
it was at the sad ridiculousness of art legitimising yet another corporate seduction and an attempt at continuing the discussion of the utilisation of publicly funded spaces
The documentary about Jeremy Dellers project on the Miners Strike last night was a fine example. The BBC changed the order of the riot footage to make it look like the miners charged first. That was twenty years ago...it's an outrage...what can one do about it now?be informed and be better prepared next time, which means being engaged now and every now
and .... throw a bloody enormous noisy party when she who shall not be named finally dies and is cast down into the fiery flaming pit of torment !
peace
mark
