Not only is it "private and personal", but one wise and cynical financial advisor once told me something I'll never forget: never believe somebody's claims about how much money he makes until you see his 1040 form yourself -- especially the Schedule C.
Of course, she was speaking in an American context and of Americans, so she gave the references for US Federal Tax. But if it had been in many other countries, I don't think I would believe it even -after- seeing their filings: in Yeltsin's Russia, for example, it was routine to keep one set of books for real and the other to show the taxman. You can figure out which showed the higher profits. So the moment the first post in this thread went up, I knew we were going to see some responses painting a rosy picture of glowing success. But that doesn't really tell us much.
