One other possibility that might be interesting. If Google hires "dozens" of developers, it could be these people will be true "Developer Program Engineers" whose sole task will be to support us like we have in other API's like the maps. Google hired numerous maps developers to do this task and it worked out great. Having actual experienced developers who've created apps, supported them and worked around the Android market will make then quite capable in that regard.
