Yes, it's okay for Google to crush future, non-existent projects. It just
mean that those developers will put their time into some other project, no
time or energy wasted.

It would create resentment in the community and discourage those good
developers from continuing to develop apps for Android. That would be a
problem. I didn't say it would bother Google. Google is extremely aggressive
if you enter their competitive space so Google may very well try to sink
other projects/apps that sit on prime real-estate. I hope they won't but it
wouldn't surprise me if they did.
