Did anyone of you test Pay per Install Campaigns for paid Android Apps.
There are ton of services of services out there and can't figure out
which one to choose.
I'm interested in how much do you have to bid for a paid app?
I tried a Pay Per Install campaign -- Flurry -- for a PAID app, and
after about a week it had exactly zero installs ($2 app, ~$1.25 CPI, so
I thought it would be a good deal). Thankfully they refunded the money
when it became obvious that it wasn't working.
In retrospect, since I did have a free version on the market, it may
have been driving people to the free version for essentially nothing,
but I've come to believe pay-per-install isn't really the best way to
get new users anyway (unless you get enough to raise you in the charts,
of course). Those users are more likely to slam your app in the reviews
because they were effectively coerced into installing it, and therefore
if it's not absolutely perfect they take out their anger in the reviews.
Also, the market rankings are based in part on how long they keep your
app installed. If they install it just long enough to get the free coins
and then uninstall, that will hurt your ranking.
