Here is my description of the problem:
When I attempt to compose a note to post to a newsgroup, or if I should
attempt to forward a post, or reply to a post, a message will appear at
the bottom of my screen saying "Validating Newsgroups". Usually the
computer is locked up at this point and I have to do a cold re-boot.
Sometimes an error message is returned saying that no smtp server has been
identified for posting to newsgroups. I can find nowhere in my setup file
any place where a separate entry for the smtp server is required for
posting to newsgroups.
Here is another problem: Whenever I access a newsgroup, all of the old
messages that I've already read are also displayed. I try to exclude
the old messages, but that doesn't happen. Whenever I do a news run I
will get all the new postings plus all the old ones. I don't know what
I'm doing wrong.
Using PC-PINE for sending and retrieving ordinary email messages works
just fine for me. The problem is that I cannot post to a newsgroup and
another problem is that it always gets the same old stuff every time it
does a news retrieval.
