I don't think you have a "hardware" problem.

The problem you have here is that Arachne does not seem to be _properly_
communicating with the DNS at compuserve.
(that's what causes the "Arachne load Error" when trying to access pages
which are in fact "up and running")
Try accessing http://www.cisnet.com/
If you get "Arachne load Error", try http://204.179.144.3/ (cisnet's IP #)
If you _can_ get directly to the IP...1
Then the problem _is_ Arachne/DNS related.
BTW, I found the IP number using the DOS version of "Trace Route".
So, you _don't_ need an NT or Unix machine to do it.<g>
