Steve,
There is the single IP address of the host that deals with electric
signals of provider's receiving modem you have dial-up access to. Namely
this hostname providers used to give as starting page for their clients.
And only with this host you can handle exactly without DNS (Domain Name
System) service. Any other start pages may be situated anywhere in the
world and may be accessible without DNS servicing (via IP address) or may
be not. That is why I bothered you by "hostname" questions.
Well, I've learned some interesting information for you about your
providers and their networking service. Your native Freewwweb e-mail is
[EMAIL PROTECTED] you may use it in .cfg and your e-mail will
work more reliable. You can send e-mail to yourself from freewwweb.com to
pps-2.smartworld.net and see the results. Some nslookup info is given
below:
============================================
(for Compuserve)
Authoritative answers can be found from:
compuserve.com nameserver = ARL-NAME-SVC-1.compuserve.com
compuserve.com nameserver = DUB-NAME-SVC-1.compuserve.com

ARL-NAME-SVC-1.compuserve.com internet address = 149.174.211.5
DUB-NAME-SVC-1.compuserve.com internet address = 149.174.213.5

(for Freewwweb)
freewwweb.com preference = 10, mail exchanger = mx.smartworld.net
freewwweb.com nameserver = cbru.br.ns.els-gms.att.net
freewwweb.com nameserver = dbru.br.ns.els-gms.att.net
freewwweb.com nameserver = nic.near.net
freewwweb.com nameserver = ns.smartworld.net
mx.smartworld.net internet address = 216.70.64.22
mx.smartworld.net internet address = 216.70.64.23
cbru.br.ns.els-gms.att.net internet address = 199.191.128.105
dbru.br.ns.els-gms.att.net internet address = 199.191.128.106
nic.near.net internet address = 192.52.71.4
ns.smartworld.net internet address = 216.70.64.1
==========================================================

As you can see you set correct Primary and Secondary nameservers for
Compuserve 149.174.211.5 and 149.174.213.5, but for Freewwweb you
set the single 216.70.64.1. There are 3 additional nameservers for
Freewwweb and you can try to set them in .cfg

About start pages in a light of my previous letter you can try the
following IP addresses:

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: home.snap.com
Addresses: 206.132.166.64, 206.132.166.65, 206.132.166.66, 206.132.166.67
          206.132.166.61, 206.132.166.62, 206.132.166.63
Aliases: freewwweb.snap.com

Name: home.freewwweb.com
Addresses: 216.70.93.138, 216.70.93.170

Good luck,
Sergei.
