Dear Eric:

Finally found someone who would "give me a hand with this "DOS"
based web browser
stuff. Arachne seems to be a great program if you can get it to "fly"!
Yes, I suppose I could try
to install the Juno upgrade and go from there. For now though, I am
running the old Juno that cannot access the Web because I have no access
to a network that runs a compatible OS or
I do not have the Win32 installed on my local hard drive.

I have manually tried to mess with arachne.cfg and arachne.bat
{changed the break=off
to break=on to see how the batch files works the program] and tried to
change the static IP to a
variable IP, all to no avail.

I also went hunting around in dos to see some more details about
the files. Apparently
it uses an update of an old program "C-Slipper" [no exactly spelled that
way} as a TSR. When I
tried to load it in the autoexec.bat file and run Windows at the same
time for Juno, the computer
screen flashed black and the old CMOS rebooted the machine. I think this
part is due to the old
AT itself as it uses different port addresses that can easily conflict.
The default of C SLIPPER is
to COM1 at 2400k baud, etc.

Anyway, I would appreciate your views on this fledgling's attempt
to access the Internet. And can I run the coordination between Juno and
another IP using an older version of
IE that does not require Win 95 OS? Still trying to see the forest for
the trees. Maybe it would
just be better to go out and get a newer machine.

Yours Sincerely,

Thomas
