Ricsi> Yes ... it needs an existing FIDO-net setup to work ...
You mean I can't use SoupGate (DOS, Win32, OS/2 or Linux) if I'm not on FIDOnet?
I've heard of FIDOnet but am not familiar, and I don't think my ISP would be any
more familiar with FIDOnet. I never heard of spoon for sending email or news
messages.
Ricsi> Than I bought a new computer (Athlon 800MHz) installed Win98, which now
defaults to run win98GUI, in a bootmenu I can select dos 7.10 and Mandrake
Linux.
When I buy a new computer, I don't want to support Bill Slobodan Gates' ethnic
cleansing that seeks to rid the computer world of everything non-Windows. I
plan to share my hard disk between DR-DOS 7.03, Linux and either NetBSD or
eComStation, but leaning toward NetBSD rather than eComStation. I am not
willing to pay the "Microsoft tax" for Windows preinstalled!
Quote from an ad by MS in PC World: "NSTL test results show that Windows 2000
Professional is 13 times more reliable than Windows 98." MS admits Win98 is not
up to strength!

Bernie, which OS is that other OS? Windows? Or is Linux not up to strength?
You also have (Free, Net, Open)BSD to choose from. What can DOS do with an
ocean of RAM? How much RAM can DOS handle?
to Sam Heywood: Whistler is the new Windows, based on NT, that MS is working on,
with both consumer and business versions planned: successor to 2000 & ME.
