They aren't loaded. I know Ricsi has already said this but there's one
small point he forgot. If you want to load everything (this is
IIRC) there's a switch you can give command.com and it will load everything in
memory.

Since it's read from disk you can get a small increase in speed, if you
have the memory for it, and put command.com on a RAMDrive (and set comspec
to this file).

Yes, I know how it's done ;-) I use Eudora in 3.x for mail at home (and
pine through arachne.cz).
This is not easy for the average user that might wonder what it's for, or
wants to add things to his/her Autoexec.Bat and wonders why it doesn't work.
It is essentially easier for the everyday user if Windows is loaded directly
(without beeing in Autoexec.Bat). I don't think it's a good thing to do since
Windows is so slow and unstable as opposed to DOS but that's the way it is...

As a side note I will not waste my Duron 750 (or whatever is a good price
when I order in a few weeks) as Ricsi did on Windows or Linux ;-).
I've made my choice and until new versions of the other OS come that are
better I'm sticking with it :)
