It's easy to forget how sarcasm can be lost online. I thought the ridiculousness of the suggestion would be enough.
Usually when I do hard power down my laptop, i usually use the magic sysrq to sync partitions. Generally there arent all too many changes though, as the computer just boots straight into a vnc session. Like I said, wireless vnc bitch :) Linux based filesystems, or ext3 at least, are/is much more durable than we give them credit, this same computer has run out of battery life plenty of times, with no problems. Alternatively you could take the tack that I did with my desktop, build it silent, and leave it on constantly ;) James -- iphitus - ArchCK Maintainer, Arch Trusted User, Arch Developer.
