THIS IS AN EXTERNAL EMAIL: do not click any links or open any attachments unless you trust the sender and were expecting the content to be sent to you Hey Chris - thanks for the PERIOD (EH) thesaurus link. Last time Phil sent me the EVENTS thesaurus as an attachment to import into Arches - see conversation of 18 Sep in this Forum. Do you know what format I need to save the PERIOD (EH) thesaurus to in order to import it as a thesaurus to Arches? Cheers again, Jude. I believe you want the Historic England Periods Authority File in SKOS / RDF format. https://www.heritagedata.org/blog/vocabularies-provided/ Hope this helps. You'll see from my other conversation that I haven't actually 'covered myself in glory' in adding the new child terms, but I figure, making mistakes is how I learn anything - ain't that the truth! Thanks again, you really do provide an invaluable lifeline on all this, I owe you several beers when pubs come back into existence! Jude. I did an Advanced Search to find what data is in that node (so I can delete it) and the only name it came up with was 'John Smith' which I recall was a test record - but then it doesn't return the record(s) this data is in...see attached screen grab. Otherwise I will go through all 6,000 records and delete the data from the node and then make the change - that will work, will get there. Cheers, Jude. I’ve used import a lot but never export so I can only point you at the theory. The process though, would be: 1. Export data to /business_data folder 2. Modify Graph 3. Export Graph and save to your Graphs/Resource_Models folder 4. Create mapping file and concepts folder. 5. Save mapping file and concepts file to business_data folder. 6. Import data via command line using * python manage.py packages -o import_business_data -s 'path_to_source_file' -c 'path_to_mapping_file' -ow overwrite --create_concepts create --bulk_load Hope that helps Phil Phil Carlisle Knowledge Organization Specialist Information Analysis Policy and Evidence Group Historic England Direct Dial: +44 (0)1793 414824<tel:+44%201793%20414824> Mobile: +44 (0)7768 656427<tel:+44%207768%20656427> Many Historic England staff are working remotely at the moment and we are doing what we can to maintain our level of response but please bear with us as this may be slower than usual. http://www.heritagedata.org/blog/ From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> On Behalf Of [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: 19 October 2020 13:48 To: Arches Project <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: Re: [Arches] Graph Validation Error (you cannot modify a Resource Model with instances) - how do I find instances? THIS IS AN EXTERNAL EMAIL: do not click any links or open any attachments unless you trust the sender and were expecting the content to be sent to you I suppose it's us wanting to work with developing Arches as we work with the data and learn Arches, without then having to dump out all the data and reimport each time we want to add a new node; or change the name or an existing node; or change the resource-instance a node uses, i.e. from 'Person (Actor)' to 'Organisation (Actor)'. These changes only tend to emerge once you start working with the data and shaping it within Arches - hard to figure every move out in advance I tend to find. Thanks again for your help - I won't be hitting the delete button for now. Hopefully there's another way, even if it is export; change Resource Models; reimport data. If that's the only way, is there a guide on how to do that? Cheers, Jude. Surely there's the function to be able to change a resource-instances for a Node without having to delete all the records from the Resource Model? Same with wanting to change the name given to a node - is there a way to change the name given to a node without having to delete the entire database? I really don't want to have to delete all 6,000 Monument records for when I want to make a change to a resource-instance for a node. Feels a little extreme. Thanks for your help, Jude. On Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 10:05:15 PM UTC+1 Alexei Peters wrote: Hi Jude, If you want to delete all the "Monument" instances just go to the graph designer for that model. Then select the "Manage" button in the upper left corner. That should give you an option to delete all instances of that model. I know it's obvious, but this is permanent. There is no way to undo the delete of all the instances. I need to change the resource-instance in the node 'Compiler (organisation)' from 'Person (Actor)' to 'Organisation (Actor)'. (We needed to create the separate Resource Model 'Organisation (Actor)' to allow us to capture these records). However, when I do this I get a Graph Validation Error and I cannot save the edit to the Resource Model. How do I find the 'instances saved' so I can edit or delete them, in order that I can then make the above change? Thanks, I'm sure there's a simple way, all part of us learning Arches here, Jude. -- -- To post, send email to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.
