no buddy, gulzar is not at all overrated. Your understanding of poetry
is wanting.

He makes no sense is a general statement and it would help to qualify it
with "He makes no sense TO YOU".

I concede that several of his writings don't immediately become clear to
me, but that doesn't mean that there is no sense in them.

Sahir is probably the best poet bollywood had ever got and Gulzar comes
second after him, that is my understanding of poetry of various
bollywood poets. Gulzar lacks in only one sphere that he doesn't write
on social issue, of which Sahir was a master, and social issues matter
more, and without social relevance, the emotional writings of gulzar
sound errands of a full stomach who can afford to entertain emotions.
Otherwise, Gulzar's understanding and presentation of emotions are the
best in bollywood. Gulzar is the poet who has given most of the new
phrases as figures of speeches in bollywood. Even in C,D, E, F...Z,
grade movies, Gulzar gives consistently high value poetry.

Read him more and you would understand poetry more. It is a blessing
from divinity when ARR and Gulzar work together.
