I concede that several of his writings don't immediately become clear to me, but that doesn't mean that there is no sense in them. Sahir is probably the best poet bollywood had ever got and Gulzar comes second after him, that is my understanding of poetry of various bollywood poets. Gulzar lacks in only one sphere that he doesn't write on social issue, of which Sahir was a master, and social issues matter more, and without social relevance, the emotional writings of gulzar sound errands of a full stomach who can afford to entertain emotions. Otherwise, Gulzar's understanding and presentation of emotions are the best in bollywood. Gulzar is the poet who has given most of the new phrases as figures of speeches in bollywood. Even in C,D, E, F...Z, grade movies, Gulzar gives consistently high value poetry. Read him more and you would understand poetry more. It is a blessing from divinity when ARR and Gulzar work together. -- Rawat
