We have tried with a few users changing from the full server name to its IP 
address.  No difference in performance, unless they're at a location that is 
having DNS issues (which is thankfully very rare).

We did have issues with the many dns servers. People would use the 
server name instead of the fully qualified name. At the time we also had 
the domain up to the top of the dns list on peoples PC. But we do not 
use this network config anymore. I know it is a long shot, but these 2 
items cuased us many issues at first.
