The best thing you can do is upgrade to 7.5. They have changed the model
for how licenses are managed in Mid-Tier and it frees them up fairly
quickly. If you aren't talking about Web browsers closing without logout,
you could institute a 'busy' flag, every time they 'do something' (that's up
for your own interpretation) update the timer, run time based AL that checks
if now is > (last time they used + X), if it is, pop up a dialog asking
them if they are still using the system...if the dialog stay up on their
screen too long, issue a logout, if they say yes, update the timer...you
could use global fields for this, and attach the same workflow to all of the
forms they might be in that you want to track...

Subject: Encouraging Float License Users to Log Off When Inactive

**

Hello Everyone,
We are currently experiencing an issue with our float license users not
logging out when they are inactive in Remedy. Needless to say this is
holding a float license open for an hour that other users could have been
using it. My question is, have you found an effective way to encourage your
users to log off when inactive? We have sent emails which helps for about a
day but then they forget again. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you
may have.
