On the two servers where I upgraded ITSM 7.0.02/3.009 to 7.6.00.001 (having
upgraded ARS from 7.1 to 7.5 first), the Best Practices view appeared correctly
(since it is a brand new view, added to the form), and the Default User View
was back to it's OOTB state (meaning that the RKM integration and my
customizations had all been dropped out of the view). So yes, it is _supposed_
to work correctly. Almost all of my failed upgrades have been with Atrium
Core, either 2.1 -> 7.6 or 7.6 -> 7.6.03, not ITSM or the other apps.

You need to make sure that the servers you are working on have enough resources
for the job, and that all unnecessary services (flashboards, email, tomcat,
impact simulator) are turned off before you start; the first upgrade I tried in
May went 20 hours and had so many errors that I dumped it and restored the db,
and demanded more resources on that VM before trying it again. I had better
luck on real hardware servers than on VMs. On my last iteration, on the
pre-production hardware, I went so far as to remark out all of the processes in
the armonitor.cfg that were not necessary during each upgrade - for ITSM that
would be arsnmpd, apsvcae, slmbrsvc, slmcollsvc, arcmdbd, arrecond, and maybe
even arsvcdsp. I was seeing some of these timing out in the arerror.log at the
same time that the installer was having problems in earlier test runs, so I
tried to eliminate them during each upgrade.

Subject: Upgrading ITSM 7.0.3 to 7.6 doesn't seem to work

**
All:

I have been trying an upgrade ITSM from 7.0.3 patch 009 to 7.6 patch 001 on an
ARS 7.5 patch 007 server.

The upgrade seems to run fine (no obvious errors) but when I go to open the
lightly-customized Incident form, I see nothing on the Best Practices view
(just a few hidden fields) and a bit of a mess on the Default User Vew (mainly,
no accordion pane on the left side and some left over things from 7.0.3 that
should not be there).

Has anyone tried this upgrade and seen issues? Or been successful? Is this
something that is supposed to work and I am doing it wrong?

Thanks.
