Dear All

Nice to see such response to my mail on “Assam & Crude”. It’s great.

I only wish, we do not go over enthusiastic over “Assam’s wealth” concept.

Way things are happening and way smaller groups with narrowest of interest have
held the state into ransom, 25 years down the line, we should not be surprised
to see a demand for “Independent Upper Assam”.

Please do not forget that every drop of crude is produced by four upper Assam
districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivsagar and Jorhat.

To our horror, if some “group” begin to say that they are not bothered about
people of Rest of Assam ( read Dhemaji, Kokrajhar, Nalbari, Kamrup, Nagaon,
Hill Districts and Barak valley) because they are “baggage” for them.

Then what will happen? Where do we go?

I know it is rubbish. But never forget that if there is a demand for
“independent Assam” now then there can be a demand of “Independent Upper Assam”
tomorrow. Germination has already started in some minds.

I entirely agree with both the Hazarika’s. In this number game of politics we
can not play significant role. Perhaps we can think of helping each other in at
least producing human resources who can be our hope. Assam is unbelievably
suffering from leadership crisis in every front, from politics to bureaucracy,
from media to entrepreneurship.
