I feel the same way about AppleTV. The hardware looks useful and the price looks OK ($229 for refurbished unit from Apple). I'd like to use one as a MythTV client. But it requires hacking and probably copyright violation, so I'll pass. I guess that Apple has learned, through the iPod, that they want to own a platform, not sell hardware.
