My main desktop that runs ubuntu is my router. It also runs asterisk. When I
get or make a call in asterisk, I have the dial plan run a tc script that
caps all traffic but voip to a level that leaves at least 100K for in and
100K for out. When I hang up the dial plan runs the script runs again with a
different option that uncaps the connection back to wide open. When I tried
just using qos I found that I still had jitter, especially for out going
traffic.
