I never realized that it would dump calls while changing ip addresses....that's
bad news!
A Christmas Tail:
One of my clients has a cottage and wanted a SIP extension. This worked "on and
off" for
a while until I listened to the analog line on a POT,s phone. After breaking
dialtone you could here
all-sorts of weird noises. I traced the problem to the outside "demark" box on
the side of the house.
The wires were badly corroded (nasty green colour)so I cleaned it all up and
"bingo" no more trouble.
I put it all back neatly and told my client to blame it on "the raccoons" if
the Bell tech guy asked why the
seal was broken on the box. Sometimes you have to "bypass" the beaurocracy to
get a happy customer :)
