I would be happy to get something working correctly under runnix!!

I have tried BOTH 1549 and 1586, with differing results.

If you want, you can log into the 1586 setup via SSH at:
bigjohnnovack.dyndns.org and have a look around
Same with the https
Note the error messages when viewing the status and about pages.
They both point to the box in question, an HPt5710 with 512K of ram and
a 4 Gig CF "Hitachi MicroDrive"

This is "as installed" with default user names and passwords.

Feel free to change whatever, as this is strictly a test bed.
Note also the error message I posted previously, during boot time, which
you can't see.

mounting /dev/loop1 on mnt/asturw failed invalid argument

This leads me to believe there is some typo in the run.conf , but I can't see
it!

Correct. The Thin Client has a PS/2 keyboard and VGA monitor, so that
works best.

I have another T5710 using the .4.8.0 distribution that seems to work
fine, except for the php anomalies I referenced last week.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.
I certainly hope it is some stupid typo I can't see
