I've always thought (because I must have read > it somewhere) that Toslink was multi-mode and that it was synchronous. As such, it is advised that it should NOT be used for lengths over 10 meters. You seem to say the contrary. Well, I do understand that fiber used for async communications are designed for long distances (because of the protocol), but I can't imagine how could this be possible on audio.
I'm ashame to admit that I'm not a engineer, but I have some solid scientific basics and I can understand things when they are explained simply. So, can you explain to me, please ?
