This puzzles me regarding the volume control on my Transporter. I've
been told that when sending the analogs out to a preamp, the volume
control shout be set to 0db or, full on in order to get maximum bit
rate (resolution).

Is this true?

Here's my dilemma. I have a Cary SLP-05 tube preamp. TP feeds this tube
pre via its analog outputs. Cary's volume control is barely cracked to
get loud so it "feels" to me that the output voltage is more than
necessary and perhaps detrimental to sound quality. I played with
setting and found that 10db down on the Transporter seemed to be a
sweet spot or not so overly dynamic or glaring with some types of
music. When I inquired about this setting with others I was told I was
losing information when volume control was less than 0db. Is this
true?

What is the REAL truth about the Transporters volume settings?
