So basically you understand the theoretical limitations of 16/44.1 and
then leap to the conclusion that it must be audible to a human being
listening to music in a normal domestic situation.

There is precisely zero evidence from properly conducted trials that a
hi-res recording correctly resampled to 16/44.1 and played back at
normal listening levels sounds any different.
