You and other dogmatic audiophiles are damn tiresome. Whenever some of your fellow audiophiles attempt to point out that some of the latest hand wringing by the audio press has no basis in reality. If you had bothered to read many of the excellent posts in this section of the forum you would see that most of us are not saying that aren't ways to improve the sound of digital audio but rather that these improvements are being delayed because too many resources are being wasted chasing dead ends. For example, the science of digital audio clearly indicates that any two properly functioning USB cables will sound exactly the same. If anyone thinks that they hear a difference than there must some other reason for hearing this difference. Being told that using a double blind test is one way to find out if the reason for hearing the difference is being caused by expectation bias is not throwing a fit but rather simply trying to eliminate a possible reason. If after conducting the test the difference is clearly identifiable then one can explore other reasons for the difference perhaps even questioning the science BUT NOT UNTIL the results of the DBT have been proven. When making claims that run counter to science the audio press must get serious about eliminating as many reasons as possible before publishing these claims. In the words of Sherlock Holmes - eliminate the impossible and whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97489 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
