So, tell me how "various internal processes going on within the
computer" gives rise to audibility issues? 
Are you suggesting that bits were changed in the USB stream & therefore
what the DAC was getting was not bit-perfect which resulted in a
difference in sound?

You do understand the difference between non-asynch USB & asynch USB is
just that in non-asynch USb the clock timing the USB stream is derived
from the PC whereas in asynch USB the clock is in the DAC device itself?
