Accordingly local procedures as advised via ERSA could state that only certain of the calls be made on the basis of the necessity to reduce radio call congestion.

During the briefing at Benalla we were told that they are a "recommendation" not a "requirement" - but it is strongly recommended.

We discussed this further and decided that the most important calls were "Down wind" and "Turning base".
