Hello all,
I think a moderate approach is best, at least until it's clear who has
created the clone store and how they respond to polite requests to
give credit to the OOoAuthors project.
If they agree to provide a link and proper attribution to the project
(as the works' CC license requires), that is probably enough to solve
the problem. Indeed, Jean's comments on the books will probably have
that effect, even if the clone store's operator takes no action.
I would suggest minimal concern about the legal options available, and
the most focus on how this could negatively impact people who just
want to learn from the documentation. Admirably, OOoAuthors has used a
very permissive license, with the intent of providing maximum end-user
benefits, which I am certain it does, but this clone is one of the
things that can happen when you share your work freely. However, if
the clone store doesn't harm any end-users, then it's not worth
worrying about.
A possible scenario, though not too likely, is that someone may buy
the $100 PDF and later find out they could have had it for free, and
they might get angry at the wrong group. Knowing this is possible, I
don't think it is likely, especially now that Jean's provided the
links to the free download pages.

Hi all,
just my 2 cents worth.
I created an account on lulu.com, and reported each book by clicking
on the "Report this
item" button. I then used the following text:
-----------------------
The following books being sold as a $100 download are licensed under
Creative
Commons Attribution 2.5 and the copyright is held by the Friends of
OpenDocument Inc.
These books are the result of a community effort, are are provided
as a free download
from http://stores.lulu.com/opendocument
-------------------------
It was all I could think of on the spur of the moment, but if
everyone reports these books,
maybe lulu.com will do something about them.

Is OOoAuthors a registered trademark?
No, it isn't.
I have just posted the following as a review for each of the books
on the other store:
<quote>
A FREE download of this book can be obtained from the OpenOffice.org
website, http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/
</quote>
Because I posted each review while logged in as Friends of
OpenDocument, a clickable link to our storefront was automatically
inserted by Lulu, so viewers can find us if they choose to click
through. Unfortunately, I failed to make the link to Docs clickable
(I forgot this doesn't happen automatically).
I'm not sure yet whether I'll pursue this with Lulu or not. I
suspect we don't have much of a case, as we would if it were a
copyright violation.
I'm not sure. As far as I saw in the description, this guy has
changed
the license. We use Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 and have the
Copyright with Friends of OpenDocument Inc. and this guy changed this
to © 2008 http://stores.lulu.com/OOoAuthors Creative Commons
Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0. I'm no expert with law and licenses, but
this looks to me, like this isn't correct.
